Funds to boost community groups
A HOST of community organisations have benefited from the latest round of grants by the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Nineteen not-for-profit groups throughout the region were awarded grants ranging from $4000 to the maximum amount of $35,000.
The Atherton Bowls Club ($32,500), the Atherton Rugby League Football Club ($35,000), the Atherton Tablelands & District Dressage and Equestrian Association ($15,406), and the Atherton Turf Club ($26,400) all received funds to upgrade their facilities.
The Tableland Roller Derby League received $27,452 to purchase equipment as did the Tableland Yidinji Aboriginal Corporation with a $10,332 grant, while the Tablelands Biodynamic and Organic Farmers’ Co-Op received $35,000 to install a solar system.
The Lions Club of Mareeba were granted $35,000 to purchase a trailer, while the Mareeba Heritage Centre received $9500 to purchase equipment.
The Mareeba Junior Rugby League Club got $29,060 to purchase equipment and the Mareeba Turf Club will be able to do further upgrades to its facilities with a grant of $17,815.
Other successful groups were the Chillagoe Caving Club ($34,598); the Julatten & Molloy Association Of Ratepayers & Residents ($4,000); the Julatten Men’s Shed ($6,470); the Malanda Chamber of Commerce ($9,988); the Kuranda Aquatic Centre ($35,000); the Millaa Millaa Golf Club ($35,000); the Mount Molloy State School Parents And Citizens Association ($16,900); and the Yungaburra Community Kindergarten Association ($35,000).
