Gem of a festival this Sunday

HUNDREDS of gem collectors, rock hounds, fossickers and jewellery enthusiasts are expected to attend the very popular annual Gem Festival at Tolga this Sunday.

Run by the Atherton Tableland Mineral and Lapidary Club, the event will feature fun activities such as sand pit fossicking and gem sieving the traditional way, as well as the Peg Your Claim stand where there will be an opportunity to win prizes.

The club’s extensive display of members’ beautiful creative works in silver jewellery, cabochons, faceting, along with their mineral specimens collected on their many fossicking club trips also can’t be missed.

From 7am-3pm, the gem festival will be held adjacent to Tolga Market area and all are welcome to attend.

A full canteen will be available through-out the day and free off-road parking.
