MAREEBA Gladiators second rower Caleb Dally has added to his stellar 2019 season after he took home the Gladiator of the Year Award at the Mareeba Gladiators Senior Presentation night on Friday.
It caps of a phenomenal year for the 18-year-old, who also picked up the Cairns District Rugby League’s Rookie of the Year Award at their awards night recently.
“It’s a real honour to be named Gladiator of the Year,” he said.
“Being my first year, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I just made sure I gave 100 per cent effort every time I took to the field.
“Coming into this season I felt it was a great opportunity to expand and improve my game, and to be able to have as successful a season as I did in my rookie year means a lot.
“It has me really excited for next season, the club feels more like a family now and we have a young squad coming through so there’s plenty of potential there.”
Dally said he would like to thank his mother for always being there and supporting him and Trent Barnard for providing him with the opportunity to play A-Grade this season.
Brian Wyborn was named best and fairest for reserve grade.

Patrick King (centre) was awarded the Gladiators number one fan.

Volunteer of the year Daniel Crunkhorn.
