Gladiators go down, Roosters take points
THE Mareeba Gladiators suffered a tough loss to a third-placed Southern Suburbs outfit in Gordonvale, while the Atherton Roosters got a free two points after the Edmonton Storm forfeited their match.

GLADIATORS
IT was hard going for the Gladiators as they faced one of the competition’s top teams at their home ground in Gordonvale on Sunday afternoon.
Mareeba put up a good fight but were unable to get the job done and took a 32-16 loss.
Mareeba co-captain Caleb Dally was the first to find the tryline for his team, while centre Bronson Ryan scored himself a double.
The recent loss shifted the Gladiators down to seventh on the ladder with only a few games left in the season.
The Gladiators Reserve’s also went down with a 40-12 loss. However, the Under 19s continued to shine and showcase their flashy footy, taking down Suburbs 40-18.
The young guns’ recent win puts them in fourth place on the FNQRL ladder.
This Sunday, the Gladiators will come up against the top-of-the-table Cairns Brothers at Stan Williams Park, Cairns.
The Under 19s will get things underway at 12pm, followed by Reserve Grade at 1.30pm, and A Grade at 3pm.
ROOSTERS
OVER in Atherton, it was only the Reserve Grade and Women’s teams that played due to the Edmonton Storm A Grade team forfeiting the match.
The Edmonton club said that a combination of injuries, suspensions and unavailabilities led to the decision to forfeit.
However, the Roosters Reserve’s put on a show for the home crowd and whopped the Edmonton Reserve’s 66-0. Roosters fullback Tom Cuda scored four tries in the dominating win.
This week, the Atherton Roosters will have a bye.
