Golf club gears up for big comp
A $7,500 prize pool will be sure to attract some of the region’s best golfers as Mareeba Golf Club gears up for one of its biggest annual tournaments.
Nominations for the 2026 Steggles Mareeba Open are now open, with the club proudly announcing Steggles as the major sponsor of the event once again, as well as Golfworld Cairns, who are also returning as an event sponsor. Their combined support offers competitors a share in the large $7,500 prize pool.
The 36-hole stroke play tournament will be held over 18 and 19 April at Mareeba Golf Club. Nominations are open via MiTournament and will close on 13 April, unless sold out prior.
Club president Kirra Kurumaji said the Open was one of the most important events for the club.
“It brings strong competition to Mareeba from all around the NQ region, it showcases our course at its best and creates a great atmosphere for members and visitors alike,” he said.
“We’re proud of how the event continues to grow and we’re looking forward to another fantastic weekend of golf.”
The Mareeba Lions Club will also be catering the event – providing freshly cooked food for all competitors.
