Grant to upgrade TML venue
THE hard work and dedication of Tablelands Music Lovers volunteers is paying off, with the club being awarded a $36,050 Live Music Business Grant from Arts Queensland.

The grant will provide much-needed assistance to carry out a number of upgrades at the TML venue in Grainger Lane, Atherton.
President Colin Trigwell said the venue, formerly an old warehouse, was in urgent need of improvements, particularly to lighting and ventilation.
“We’ve now installed modern LED lighting to replace flood lights that were around 30 years old,” Mr Trigwell said.
“All fans have also been replaced, and new whirlybirds installed to help keep the building cool during the hot summer months.”
He said that, as a result, electricity bills were decreasing and internal temperatures haddropped, making the venue far more comfortable for both performers and audiences.
Additional improvements include new benches and storage shelving in the staff room, helping to resolve long-standing storage and workflow issues.
Work has also been undertaken to better control noise emission from the building.
Acoustic conditioning measures include portable acoustic partitions, bass traps, ceiling baffles, and wall-mounted acoustic panels.
Mr Trigwell said the upgrades were designed to improve sound quality inside the venue while reducing noise escaping to surrounding areas.
To celebrate the completion of the installation works, TML is planning a major fundraising event at the end of May.
