Gymnasts off to state champs
THIRTEEN Mareeba gymnasts are through to the State Championships after an incredible showing of talent and skill at the recent Regional Championships.

Athletes from the Mareeba Gymnastics Club recently travelled to Townsville to contest the Regional Championships, and after multiple podium finishes and standout performances, 13 progressed through to the next stage of competition, with six of those also being selected to represent the Far North regional team.
“For a small regional club like ours, this is something truly special. We don’t have the same level of resources or access as larger metropolitan clubs, but what our athletes do have is determination, resilience, and an incredible sense of community behind them,” coach Dayna Pearce said.
“Opportunities like this mean so much – not just for the gymnasts, but for our entire club and town. This journey is about more than just medals, it’s about hard work paying off, big dreams coming from small places, and young athletes getting the chance to represent their region on a much bigger stage.”
The gymnasts will be representing the Mareeba club across Senior Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG), Senior Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG), and Junior MAG at the State Championships in Brisbane, which run from this Thursday to next Wednesday.
