Herberton’s new community hub
A NEWLY-formed not-for-profit organisation is providing support and help to the people in and around Herberton, with activities that suit people from 0 to 100 years of age at the Grace Community Hub.

Hub secretary Lorraine Phillips said the vision of the group was to provide activities for all age groups to grow relationships and connect people in the community to reduce loneliness and isolation.
“Herberton is a great place to live, and we partner with the many community groups supporting the residents and volunteers contributing to the wellbeing of the town and surrounding villages,” she said.
“We are staffed by volunteers and funded by grants and welcome donations from generous businesses whose heart is for Herberton to flourish.
“We envisage operating a playgroup in 2026 after the model of Early Years Place run so successfully in Dimbulah for 0-8 year olds, to fill the gap caused by the closure of the kindergarten four years ago.
“At present, we offer a games, craft and art morning for all ages on a Wednesday morning and a Justice of the Peace is available.
“We also provide a well-equipped space for other like-minded community groups to hold workshops and seminars and events.”
A big event is coming up at the hub on Saturday 13 December when the Community Interaction Group holds their Christmas markets there from 7am-12 noon.
Local faith community Rivers of Grace also holds Sunday services at the hub.
“Leading up to Christmas Day, we will showcase the Christmas Story for families to come and view and enjoy Christmas cake and a cuppa in the evenings from 5pm-7pm,” Lorraine said.
Other events planned for the new year include family movie nights, a trash and treasure market, a fashion parade showcasing upmarket second-hand clothes and a black and white photography course.
Anyone needing more information about the hub’s events, or those wishing to hire the venue can contact project manager Mandy Jensen on 0427 887 593.
