Honour for student
MOUNT St Bernard College student leader Mahalia Creek has been selected to be on the inaugural Catholic Education Queensland First Nations Student Council.
Mahalia has represented both Mount St Bernard College and the voices of young people across Queensland, currently serving as the Member for Hill in the Queensland Youth Parliament.
In addition, Mahalia is a student representative on the Queensland Ministerial Student Advisory Council, working alongside education leaders and government representatives to provide student perspectives and help shape the future direction of education across the state.
Mount St Bernard College principal Narelle Hunt said Mahalia’s achievements reflected her strong character, commitment to service and passion for creating positive change.
“Mahalia consistently demonstrates leadership, integrity and cultural pride in all that she does,” she said.
“She is a thoughtful and passionate advocate who strives to make a meaningful difference for her peers and community.
“We are incredibly proud of her achievements and the positive example she sets for others.”
The Catholic Education Queensland First Nations Student Council has been established to provide First Nations students with a platform to share their perspectives, contribute to educational initiatives and help strengthen opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students within Catholic education.
