Housing estate receives funding boost

THE Ray Road Highfield Estate project has received $4.5 million from the State Government to develop infrastructure for the Mareeba development.

The funding was drawn from the government’s Residential Activation Fund and will deliver essential water, sewer, drainage, electrical and telecommunications infrastructure at the development.

Mareeba Shire Council Mayor Angela Toppin said the funding was critical in helping to address “the dire shortage of residential properties in Mareeba Shire”.

“This $4.5 million investment in the Ray Road residential subdivision – Highfield Estate project will help unlock new housing opportunities in Mareeba,” Mayor Toppin said.

“Especially to expand trunk infrastructure which is essential.”

Member for Cook David Kempton said the investment in Mareeba was helping support the region’s future growth.

“This is about ensuring growing communities like Mareeba have the infrastructure they need to support more housing, more families and a stronger local economy,” he said.
