The 2025 season also marked a major change for the club, with the junior competition moving from Saturday mornings to Thursday evenings, while the senior competition remained a Tuesday night highlight.

The night recognised the achievements of players and the commitment of the club’s volunteers, umpires and coaches. Major award winners included:

Player of the Year – Amber Johnston

Volunteer of the Year – Jess Fealy

Most Improved Umpire – Asha Sciani

On the court, Mareeba’s junior divisions produced a thrilling season. The 13 & Under competition was taken out by the Ice Dragons, with the Fire Ants as runners-up.

In the 16 & Under division, it was the Red Ripperz who claimed victory in a nail-biting grand final over Sparks.

Club president Pauline Sciani said the night was a milestone for the association.

“It was so special to celebrate our players, recognise our hard-working volunteers and come together as a club,” she said.

“The presentation night is something we hope will now continue each year as Mareeba Netball grows.”

The club also celebrated its Mareeba Lightning representative players, coaches, managers and umpires who represented Mareeba at Senior State Age in Ipswich and Junior State Age on the Sunshine Coast.

Competing at this level provides invaluable development and growth opportunities for Mareeba’s country-based netballers.
