The CBD Project Blueprint Draft Masterplan will be unveiled at a drop-in session seeking community comment at 117 Byrnes St (next to the Gateway Hotel) this Thursday from 9am to 6pm, and again on Friday from 7am to 3pm.

Councillors will also take part in a Connecting with Community session at the Mareeba Markets in Centenary Park on Saturday, from 8am to 12 noon.

The draft Masterplan is a milestone document which followed extensive community consultation earlier this year, chair of the project’s Standing Committee, Cr Amy Braes, said. And the questions guiding Project Blueprint

were simple.

“If we’re digging up the street to fix stormwater, what do we put back that truly works for our community and our visitors? How can we activate the CBD and create stronger economic outcomes for local businesses?” she said.

“Project Blueprint is all about infrastructure, but it’s more than that. It’s about shaping a CBD that reflects who we are as a community while creating a place that’s ready for the future.

“I invite you to tell us what you think about the plan. Help council to shape a town centre that supports business growth and celebrates what’s uniquely Mareeba.”
