International club gets interest-free loan
THE Mareeba International Club will be granted an interest-free loan from Mareeba Shire Council to allow it to upgrade its recreational facilities and maintain the grounds.
The $28,000 loan will allow the club to purchase of a small tractor with a loader and bucket.
A report to council stated that the club had identified a suitable area within the grounds for sport and recreational use and the loan would enable the club to purchase essential equipment, undertake the required upgrades, and ensure the grounds were maintained into the future.
Operated by an active group of volunteers, the not-for-profit club is a popular venue for weddings, formals, concerts, and corporate and community events.
The loan will be paid back over five years, with the club able to save $2,896 in interest.
