The money, which is part of the State Government’s $30 million Sowing the Seeds of Farming Innovation Fund, has been awarded to Nbryo which will develop the technology that can reduce seven years of selective breeding into seven days.

The investment, managed by the Queensland Investment Corporation, will enable Nbyro to expand its technology to improve access to superior livestock genetics, reducing production costs and improving productivity for beef and dairy producers.

“As a beef producer myself, I know how important it is to maximise productivity and make every dollar count. Nbryo is developing technology that has the potential to make advanced breeding tools more accessible and affordable for producers, helping them improve herd performance and profitability,” Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett said.

Nbryo chief executive officer Paul Niven said the investment would support the company’s next phase of growth.

“Queensland has an incredible opportunity to lead the world in agricultural technology innovation. We’re proud to showcase the work being undertaken at Nbryo and the role advanced reproductive technologies can play in helping make better herds faster,” he said.

“Translating scientific inno-vation into practical outcomes for farmers is at the core of our mission. Every improvement in reproductive efficiency has the potential to deliver significant benefits for producers, the supply chain and the broader agricultural sector.”
