Jersey auction night thrills
THE Mareeba Leagues Club is set to be hopping this weekend as the Gladiators host their famous jersey auction night.
Each year, the local footy club hosts their auction night which allows local businesses to bid to have their logos displayed on a numbered jersey for the season.
President Shaun Fincham said the club was looking forward to introducing this year’s team to the community.
“It’s one of the biggest fundraisers that the club has at the start of any year,” he said.
“It’s a good way for the community to see what we’re looking to do as a club moving forward, and to see what players we’ll be putting on the paddock as well.
“It’s always a really good night and really well attended. It’s also a good social event for the community to get to know each other and for us to show appreciation to the sponsors that have supported us for a long time.”
The event will be held at the Mareeba Leagues Club this Saturday from 7pm.
