The boys played hard and fast in July for the Cup, which was held in Townsville, going head-to-head with some of the best players across North Queensland.

Coach Greg Brown said the boys played incredibly and the donation of trophies will be a great memory for them.

“They play eight games in the none-scoring competition and the boys played really well,” he said.

“This is the second year Granites has donated these trophies and they have been super supportive of rugby league in Mareeba.

“It makes the bits feel good about their achievements and they have it as a memory.”

Granite Engineering and Manufacturing Manger Troy Gulliver said the idea behind the trophies was to be like a football and to have each of the kids’ names engraved into them.

“This is the second year we have gotten involved, and we do it all for the betterment of the community,” he said.

“My young fella is involved in it this year as well and sports is really important in creating lifelong friendships and building fitness and other skills, so we had to get onboard.”

Mareeba Junior Rugby League extends their thanks to the ongoing support of Granite Engineering and Manufacturing.
