Karate kids kicking the competition
THREE young karate kids from Seikukan Karate Club in Tolga showed true courage and skill at the National Championships recently.

Asha Jaszczyszyn, Jakob Carleton and Samuel Carleton attended the national event in Adelaide and demonstrated great skill against their opponents.
Asha, a 1st Kyu Brown Belt, competed in the cadet division for girls over 60kg (14-15 years).
She demonstrated exceptional skill and determination by winning her first two matches but unfortunately fell short in her attempt to reach the finals, ultimately placing 4th.
Despite this outcome, her tenacity and performance were commendable.
Jakob Carleton, a 4th Kyu Blue Belt, competed in the junior division for 9-year-olds, facing the eventual winner in a closely contested match.
Although the result was not in his favour, Jakob showed remarkable resilience and a willingness to learn from the experience, demonstrating significant improvement over time.
Samuel, a 3rd Kyu Purple Belt, participated in the 11-year-old junior division. After winning his first two matches, he too was in contention for a spot in the finals but was unable to secure the win.
He finished in 4th place, but his performance reflected the hard work and dedication he has invested in his training.
“All three students have been training really hard at our training hall since 2021,” instructor Brett Carleton said.
“We are proud of their achievements and look forward to watching them continue to grow in the art of karate.”
