THE Tablelands Regional Council (TRC) has released a new survey to see just how prepared the community is in case of a disaster situation.

The ‘Disaster Preparedness – Are You Ready?’ survey seeks to see if locals are well preparedin the case of an emergency disaster situation and if they understand the implications of a community going through a disaster.

TRC is encouraging residents to participate in the survey so that the council has a better understanding of how they will fair in the case of a disaster.

“We need to ensure our community is well prepared, capable and self-sufficient during and after disasters so we can reduce the burden on emergency services and volunteers,” said Councillor Bernie Wilce.

“We’ve developed a survey that assesses how prepared our community is for a disaster, and the results will help us to focus our resources and support on areas of need.

“The survey includes questions about emergency action plans, disaster communication, plans for pets if you are evacuated and other questions that will help us form a picture of the status of our disaster preparedness.”
