This weekend the Atherton Men’s shed return with one of their signature events.

The first Cruise-in since the COVID lockdowns is happening this Friday, August 7.

This is where local motoring enthusiasts get to show off their unique, antique, classic cars, trucks and motorbikes.

Secretary of the Atherton Men’s shed John Whyte said “The last Cruise-in was in February and since then we have been looking forward to getting the all-clear for our next event.”

“On the Tablelands there are a few hundred people with classic or restored cars and these people like getting together for social nights and there’s not a lot of opportunity for that,

“Our cruise in is not a car show, there’s no competitions or show and shine, it’s just people who own cars, getting together and it's open to the public as well.”

In the past the Atherton Cruise-in has attracted up to 90 cars, trucks or motorbikes on display and anyone can bring their car along to be put on display.

The Cruise-in in on from 5.30 – 8.30 pm at Railway Lane and while admission is free, the Men’s Shed will be running a BBQ and sausage sizzle to help raise funds on the night.

For COVID tracing purposes everybody must register their details on arrival and personal distancing must be practised.
