People with respiratory or other health problems are advised to seek medical advice on the effects of smoked inhalation, should close their windows and doors and keep any medication nearby.

The aim of the annual burning is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and create a mosaic of burnt and unburnt areas which will help reduce the intensity of bush fires.

With smoke visible on roads, motorists are advised to drive cautiously and to the conditions. The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service advise locals to obey all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
