Better access for men’s shed members
The Mareeba Men’s Shed disabled members will now be able to stay out of the rain and weather with the recent construction of a covered area in front of the entrance to their workshop.
The Mareeba Men’s Shed disabled members will now be able to stay out of the rain and weather with the recent construction of a covered area in front of the entrance to their workshop.
The Mount Emerald Wind Farm presented the Mareeba Men’s Shed with a $7000 grant that was put towards procuring and erecting the new covered area, the materials were purchased from local supplier FNQ Shade n Shelter.
The covered area will give the shed’s disabled members protection from the elements while they enter and exit the shed.
Ergon Energy also decided to surprise the Men’s Shed with a $1500 grant which enabled them to finish the concreting required for the new covered area.
Mareeba Men’s Shed Secretary Roland Hill is very excited for this new project to be complete and to better assist with the sheds disabled members ease of access to the shed.
“It feels great to be given the money to do these upgrades,” he said.
“The benefits of the new covered area will be felt by all members of the shed.
“We are very happy that the Mount Emerald Wind Farm gave us the money to do these upgrades.”
Next on the agenda for the Mareeba Men’s shed is the erection of a wall running along the boundary to the next property.
In the wet season rain runs off the adjacent property and floods the sheds area making it very difficult for the members.
Courtesy of the Mareeba Lions Club plans to build the wall to stop water run off can begin soon, the members will then reroute the water to run straight into the Barron River.
