Even though the doors have been open for a few weeks, due to social distancing and conflicting schedules the official opening of Federal Member for Kennedy Bob Katter’s new office in Mareeba took a while to organise.

Yesterday, July 27 Mr Katter and his staff held an official opening for local dignitaries and media.

On hand to help Mr Katter open the office was Hill MP Shane Knuth, Mareeba Councillor Lenore Wyatt and singer Darryl Chaplain who entertained the guests.

Mr Katter said he is proud to open a new office in Mareeba “Mareeba is the centre of the Kennedy electorate and it is the production bench of the Far North Queensland economy,” he said

Mr Katter opened his office after Member for Cook Member Cynthia Lui closed her Mareeba office last November and moved it to Cairns.

“Our office provides a very essential service, there are a hundred Federal Government agencies and they don’t work perfectly,” Mr Katter said

“Our office’s handles hundreds of problems from local constituent’s every month to fix these problems.”

Katje Gibson is the Chief of Staff at Mr Katter’s new office Byrnes Street Mareeba. “Katje had her own magazine on the Tablelands and she now lives between Atherton and Mareeba.” Mr Katter Said

The new office is located at 141 Byrnes Street Mareeba and it will be manned fulltime by 1-2 staff and open 5 days a week.
