Cairns resident tests positive for COVID-19
There has now been one new confirmed case of COVID-19 in Cairns after a local returned from Papua New Guinea.
There has now been one new confirmed case of COVID-19 in Cairns after a local returned from Papua New Guinea.
The person in question was tested while in hotel quarantine and remains in isolation.
In a statement released by the Cairns and Hinterlands Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS) on their facebook page they said, “The person, who had recently flown into Cairns from Papua New Guinea was tested while in a quarantine hotel and they continue to be in isolation.”
“Tropical Public Health Services are following up on any contacts.”
This brings Queenslands total cases to 39, including the one active case.
