Following further restrictions from the Federal Government the Mareeba Shire Council (MSC) has been forced to close all council playgrounds and outdoor recreation facilities until further notice.

The announcement came last week on Tuesday March 31 and includes all public exercise equipment as well as the basketball and tennis courts.

The Mareeba Skatepark and council swimming pools have also been closed until further notice from council.

“Under the Federal Government's restrictions, outdoor facilities including the Mareeba Skate Park, playgrounds and swimming pools will remain closed until further notice,” a council spokesperson said.

“Mareeba Shire Council is committed to the health and safety of the community and is following direction and advice from the Federal and State Governments to help slow the spread of coronavirus.“

Council is balancing the importance of providing services to the community with protecting the safety of everyone.”
