Disaster centre wins architecture award

The Atherton Community Education and Disaster Coordination Centre (CEDCC) has recently been honoured by the Australian Institute of Architects’ with it winning an award.

The Atherton Community Education and Disaster Coordination Centre (CEDCC) has recently been honoured by the Australian Institute of Architects’ with it winning an award.

The CEDCC was constructed by Coburn Architecture based in Cairns and went through a 16 month planning and construction phase with the new centre being finished last year.

The centre won the Regional Project of the year award and was acknowledged for a regional commendation for Commercial Architecture, making it through the preliminary selections and now able to be judged at the State Architecture Awards.

Director of Coburn Architecture, Alanna Coburn was extremely proud for one of her projects to be acknowledged with an architecture award.

“We are extremely proud to have the building receive the award,” she said.

“We worked with a large team to make the building what it is today.

“We feel privileged to be able to deliver such an exciting project with an amazing team.”
