Fallen Police officers remembered

By Rhys Thomas

WITH HONOUR THEY SERVED – National Police Remembrance Day was held last Friday and saw visitors from all across Australia attend a march and ceremony in Mareeba.

After the march along Walsh Street, officers, emergency services personnel and community members paid their respects at a service at the Abundant Life Centre.

Officer’s lives were remembered and honoured by the Queensland Police Force with speeches being presented by several high ranking officers and officials within the police.

Retired district officers also attended the ceremony and assisted with the lighting of the candles to remember and honour the memories of those the officers who lost their lives.

Unfortunately the honour roll grew longer after two officers tragically lost their lives in service in Tasmania in 2018.
