Mareeba Ambulance Station to get needed upgrades
The Mareeba Ambulance Station started much needed upgrades last week with the station undergoing a 2-million-dollar investment.
The Mareeba Ambulance Station started much needed upgrades last week with the station undergoing a 2-million-dollar investment.
The new station will include a 4-bay plant room, patient care store, office space, day room, a writeup area, multifunctional rest and study rooms that can also be used for training spaces and associated staff amenities.
The new station is suspected to be completed in October of this year with the 17 frontline paramedics being able to move in to the new station.
Cairns and Hinterlands Local Ambulance Station Network Assistant Commissioner Michelle Baxter has stated that the upgrades to the station will improve the health of the entire Tablelands.
“The station that is being built is helping to provide for the future,” she said.
“The upgrade means that the paramedics have a much more updated station to work out of.
“It’s a wonderful enhancement to the old station and better able to help with training.”
Member for Cook Cynthia Lui said that this record investment in health was delivering world class health infrastructure for Mareeba, even in the midst of a pandemic.
“This pandemic has made it clear just how important it is that we invest in our frontline health services so that we can deliver the best possible healthcare,” she said.
“I’m so pleased to see that we’re getting on with building Mareeba’s next generation of health facilities even in these difficult times.
“The construction phase of this project is providing seven local construction jobs, without this construction that’s seven locals who wouldn’t have work.”
