It seems like couples (and singles) in Mareeba have been getting romantic with each other after a survey released by Adult Toy and Lingerie store Lovehoney reveals towns where they have had the most sales in the lead up to Valentine's day.

The data named Berri as the most romantic place in Australia. Couples in Berri spend more on each other for Valentine’s than anywhere else in Oz with Mareeba coming in a close second.

According to the Lovehoney "The sensual ambience of Berri's vineyards and orchards clearly goes hand in hand with sex toys and lingerie, with Lovehoney seeing a 300% increase in sales in the run-up to Valentine’s Day. This resulted in the town being ranked number one when it comes to romance in Australia."

The findings reveal the top 20 'romantic places’ to be a mix of varied towns, cities and suburbs from across the entire country.

With Mareeba at number two the only other Far North Queensland locations to make the top 20 was Townsville at number 4 and Douglas at 17.

“Couples that play together, stay together. Obviously, couples in Berri clearly know that the key to sexual happiness is to be bold and adventurous, especially around Valentine’s Day, and, instead of giving their partner the same old gift, are more likely to give them something that’s sure to spice things up!.”
