After the success of last year’s Northern Cropping solutions spring field day, the organisers have decided to repeat the event.

The next spring field day is happening August 28 at 539 Mulligan Highway Biboohra. The aim of the day is to help farmers and agricultural producers learn more about cover crop solutions

Organiser of the event Tony Matchett from Savannah Ag consulting said that there will be over 20 different types of crops shown and discussed in depth.

“There will be a lot to see and discuss with a very diverse range of crops on show.

“Our business is all about exploring new opportunities for growers, we are going to be looking at over 20 different crops including Spring Oilseed Options, Winter Pulse Crops, Cereals & Coarse Grains, Cover Crops, Spring Pulse & Legumes as well as Specialty Crops.”

We will also highlight our 3-year project titled ‘Developing an oilseed industry in Northern Australia’.

Locally grown seeds and grains and oils could be an opportunity for growers to tap into a new market.

All the crops that are to be discussed are currently grown on the one property so growers and producers can explore and ask questions.

Mr Matchett said that by coming along farmers will be able to see what they can fit into their existing farming system.

“There will be a lot to see and a lot to talk about; it will be very interactive with industry partners and professionals giving talks.”

“We will also have experts on hand to discuss drip irrigation and cotton as well as experts from the CSIRO, seed companies and The Department of Agriculture and Primary industries.”

Entry is free and a light lunch is provided.

Experts are dependent on travel restrictions on the day.  RSVP by August 24th to tony.matchett@bigpond.com
