The boy from the bush is coming to town.
The upcoming Savannah Summer Series have left their best secret to last.
The upcoming Savannah Summer Series have left their best secret to last announcing that 37 time Golden Guitar winner Lee Kernaghan will be the headline act.
The concert series is happening over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend in October and concert-goers will be able to see Lee Kernaghan, as well as Aussie country star Casey Barnes, The Buckleys, Salt Bush Six, The Roadtrippers and The Ayres Rockettes.
The Savannah Summer Series is a smaller pop-up series that was set up to replace the Savannah in the Round concert which was postponed until 2021 due to COVID.
The Savannah Summer Series will be at the Salt House in Cairns on October 1 and Mareeba’s Rodeo Grounds on October 2 with free camping on the Saturday night in Mareeba.
Lee said that the Summer Series is happening after COVID shut the big Savannah in the Round festival down.
“Instead we are now able to put on a couple of special events called the Savannah Summer Series that are all COVID safe events,” he said.
“Special precautions will be taken to ensure that everyone is socially distanced while still enjoying some amazing music from some amazing artists.”
Even though Lee lives down south, Far North Queensland holds a special place in his heart.
“I have a special affinity to FNQ as I asked my wife to marry me on the beach at Port Douglas,” he said.
“There’s a saying in Queensland, the cream always rises to the top.”
Lee also added that he will be playing with Keith Urban’s old band, The Salt Bush Six.
“I will be getting up on stage and playing with them.”
Even though The Savannah in the Round was postponed for 2020, Lee said that he has some big announcements to make regarding the 2021 concert.
“I get to announce on stage the line-up for the Savannah in the Round concert in 2021 including the big international acts that will be playing in FNQ next year,” Lee said.
“I’m looking forward to getting up and playing in FNQ because I haven’t played anywhere since March.
“It’s going to be adrenaline pumping, hopefully I haven’t forgotten the words to the Boys from the Bush and The Outback Club, there’s nothing like playing to an FNQ crowd.”
The fun continues on October 3, when the Great Northern Bullriding Series rolls into town, with another day of jam-packed entertainment for the entire family.
