The Queensland Police Service offers its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Toyah Cordingley on today, June 14 – what should have been her 25th birthday.
Toyah was reported missing on Sunday, October 21 last year before her body was tragically discovered the following morning at Wangetti Beach, just north of Cairns.
Her murder has had a significant impact on both local police and the community.
Operation Quebec Clarify – a dedicated team of detectives and support personnel – was established to investigate Toyah’s murder and continues to work tirelessly to find whoever is responsible for her death and bring them to justice.
The investigation continues to move forward and is making progress.
Police remain in close contact with Toyah’s family and are appreciative of their ongoing support for the investigative team as well as their tremendous strength in moving forward.
“Police have stayed in constant contact keeping me up to date and I am happy and remaining patient with what is occurring,” said Troy Cordingley, Toyah’s father.
“The first birthday without Toyah will be incredibly difficult but the community support has been incredible and greatly appreciated.”
Toyah’s mother Vanessa Gardiner added, “I would like to thank the community and the police for their support.
“We will never give up.”
To date police have taken more than 400 statements and have followed up over 2800 lines of inquiry which include information provided to Crime Stoppers and Policelink.
Police continue to appeal for anyone with information regarding Toyah’s death, who may have until now been unwilling to speak, to come forward and help provide closure to her family.
