Tragic start to new year
TWO more accidents have claimed the lives of Tablelands residents in the past two weeks, bringing the number of fatalities in the region to five since the start of the year.

Last week, 14-year-old Irvinebank local Andrew Beazley was killed when a motorcycle he was riding and a truck collided on the Herberton-Petford Road on 25 January.
On 16 January, well-known Mareeba real estate agent Michael Piagno died in a farming accident, and on the same day, 20-year-old Luke McDonald was found deceased after he fell at Emerald Creek Falls, and 53-year-old Sean McMahon died in a single vehicle crash at Tinaroo.
Earlier in the month, Mareeba man Jeff Ali died at Chillagoe in a workplace incident which is being investigated.
