THE long anticipated Cape Gateway Motel swung open its doors last Wednesday for its official opening with the chefs and the café already being put to work.

The Cape Gateway Motel has been under construction since late last year being headed by Mareeba local and familiar face, Greg Williams.

Mr Williams has been working on this project for many years being a major part behind the development and planning of Mareeba’s newest motel.

Now after officially opening he is happy that he can take a step back and let his professional fully trained staff lead the motel.

“I am really looking forward to taking a step back now and letting my staff do what they are trained to do and run the motel and all of it amenities,” he said.

“I believe that Mareeba is in a unique position as it is one of the fastest growing towns in Queensland.

“The town is vibrant and I think the town is ready for a facility like the Cape Gateway Motel.”

The new motel features state of the art facilities including a café, bar, rooms and in house laundromat with stage two of the development seeing more accommodation built.

The family owned and operated motel is focused on looking after locals, all of the staff are local and all available produce is being sourced close to home, including from local roastery, Jaques.

“We are not just going to be looking after outsiders we are going to go overboard to try and look after locals,” he said.

“We want to give them a comfortable feeling, a good feed and a place to come and unwind.

“We want people to leave the motel with a good and lasting experience.

Professionally trained chefs and baristas are part of the team at the Cape Gateway Motel with some even boasting international experience.

Expansion is in the books for the new motel with dinner service being on the cards later on down the track says Mr Williams.

“We are wholly and solely focused on the future, and the future of Mareeba.

“We are a one stop shop, you can come in park your car, get a room, have a beer, have a feed and you don’t have to go anywhere.

“Once you’re here you can just relax and enjoy your stay.”
