2020 is set to be a big season for Rugby League with a senior women’s rugby league competition set to hit the green next year.

The senior women’s division hasn’t seen the football field in nearly ten years and is set to make a comeback with much support being raised.

The decision to rekindle the division was passed at the Cairns and District Rugby League annual general meeting and was supported by clubs and officials from across the region.

This new division gives women in the region who want to play more of an opportunity next year as this year only had four city-versus-country fixtures in the region.

Next year’s senior women’s division is hoping to see four to six strong teams in next year’s competition to compliment the already strong men’s divisions.
