Law enforcement request

A MEETING of Tablelands Regional Council behind closed doors earlier this month has agreed to provide confidential documentation to a law enforcement agency as part of an investigation.

Both Mayor Rod Marti and Deputy Mayor Dave Bilney declared a conflict of interest in the matter, which was held in closed session, and did not take part in the discussion or the decision.

Council agreed to provide the law enforcement agency, which it would not name, with some of the documents requested but not all of them.

Council provided documents named 1-5 but claimed privilege in relation to the information contained in the documents identified as 6-8 and “does not authorise the use for another purpose, or disclosure to the identified law enforcement agency”.
