ATHERTON

The Atherton Cricket Club took a hard beating in their game against Barron River at the weekend, with one batsman earning double digits and the bottom five all getting out for ducks.

Opening batsman Charlie Lawrence was the team’s highest scorer, notching up 11 runs from 28 balls. The rest of the batsmen’s scores tallied up to just 28 runs before a run of five ducks, including a golden duck.

Barron River bowler Jordan Fulton had himself a field day, taking five wickets and getting hit for just nine runs in his six overs – earning an economy of 1.5 runs per over. Atherton finished their innings 10/41 after 23.4 overs.

It didn’t take long for Barron River to post a winning score, with their opening batsmen getting the job done with a score of 44 in 5.2 overs.

This Saturday, the Bandits will take on Norths at Borzi Park, Mareeba from 12.30pm, while Atherton host Mulgrave at Loder Park, Atherton from 12.30pm.
