Local fashion house a finalist in awards
PROMINENT award-winning local fashion house Sonlia Fashion has been nominated for the Designer of the Year 2026 at one Brisbane’s most anticipated fashion events.

As a finalist of the Women in Fashion Awards, Sonlia Fashion’s work will be recognised in front of an audience of over 400 guests at a special luncheon, as the annual event continues to grow bigger and better to also include a global platform launch scheduled for March next year.
Sonlia Fashion principal Liana Hastie is over the moon to be a finalist in the awards.
“We are so honoured to have been nominated as a finalist of these prestigious awards,” she told The Express.
“To be judged by your fashion industry peers is amazing and also acknowledges the high standards we place on our many fashion designs, garments and millinery.
“Through our creation and design workshops we have seen an amazing variety of fashion talent that we in Far North Queensland have at all levels.”
The Mareeba-based fashion house certainly has come a long way from humble beginnings 25 years ago.
Bringing exciting and enticing and popular new designs in fashion garments and millinery, Sonlia Fashion has been recognised for their high standards of design and creation Australia wide, including at the prestigious annual Melbourne Cup fashion awards.
The nomination for the awards is a recognition of the business’s outstanding creativity, influence, and invaluable contribution to the fashion scene.
The final winner will be selected by a panel of esteemed judges and sponsors, and will be announced during the Women in Fashion long lunch this Saturday, at Portside Wharf in Brisbane.
