Local ladies raise $10K for cancer

A SEA of pink packed out Dimbulah’s Junction Hotel recently, with the inaugural Flock in Frocks event raising just shy of $10,000 for the McGrath Foundation.

The very first Flock in Frocks was a smashing success, raising an incredible $9,706 on the day and with more funds yet to come from a $1,000 board, the amount is expected to tip over the $10,000 mark.

The event featured 120 attendees, guest speakers, 30 raffle prizes, a live auction, live music from local artist Shandell Hilditch, stallholders, caterers, and “cocktails that kept the party flowing”.

Organised by women, for women, Flock in Frocks aimed to be a day for local ladies to come together, bond, and raise money for the McGrath Foundation – a cancer support service.

With the resounding success seen at the inaugural event, event organiser Natalie Hepple believes it can become an annual fundraiser.

“From a spark of inspiration to a full-blown vision, and then seeing it all come to life, it honestly felt surreal,” she said.

“There were so many moments I just stood there thinking, ‘wow, I actually did this’. Definitely a true pinch-me moment.

“And from the amazing response and beautiful feedback, this could very well become an annual event now.

“And it wouldn’t have been possible without the support and generosity of the sponsors and the donations from local businesses and individuals.”
