The local artist’s song – inspired by the true story of a young Irish woman (Annie Tracey) who was murdered in the now ghost town of Mungana in 1901 – was among just four other songs nominated for the Australian Bush Ballad Heritage Song of the Year.

Victoria’s nomination was part of the Australian Bush Balladeers Association Music Excellence Awards held during the recent Tamworth Country Music Festival.

“It was such an honour for me to have my song Flowers for Annie be among the finalists for the Australian Bush Ballad Heritage Song of the Year,” Victoria said in an online post.

“A massive congratulations to the legendary Dean Perrett, who took out the win, and to the other finalists – I can’t tell you how proud and humble it made me feel to be in the same category with such incredible talented musicians.”
