MAREEBA’s award winning Sonlia Fashion recently teamed up with national retailer, Spotlight to spearhead a nation wide campaign of fashion where they are set to release three new race day looks.

Sonlia Fashion was approached by Spotlight after one of their clients won last year’s Melbourne Cup Fashions on the Field final.

Sonlia’s client, Jordan Beard, was nationally televised during her win and stated that her outfit was made from Spotlight materials by Sonlia Fashion. This prompted a response and proposal from Spotlight to form a national campaign for the spring racing carnival.

Sonlia Fashion was allowed to use any materials from Spotlight to create three new outfits, using products exclusively from Spotlight stores.

Sonlia Fashion’s Liana Hastie was excited at the prospect and looked at it as a chance to test themselves.

“All the fabrics had to be made from their supply and I thought that sounded like a fun little challenge,” she said.

“It’s exciting, from anyone they could’ve chosen in Australia, they chose us.

“We post out our designs worldwide as well, so we have winners from all over the world, one of which was recently in London.”

The outfits were made by Liana’s sister, Sonya Alba-Miller, while Liana made all the Millinery.

The first of the three looks has been released to the public with two more on the way that will be released by Spotlight.

You can see the latest release on the Spotlight Facebook page.
