Local shooter hits the mark again

ANOTHER FNQ NASHO interbranch shoot was held recently which saw Tablelands veteran Rusty Vonarx retain his top ranking from the previous competition.

The shoot was held at the Innisfail Branch’s range in Kurrimine Beach where 19 members from the Tablelands, Cairns, and Innisfail branches all contested for the three trophies on offer.

The .22” rifles were used in two benchrest positions, firing 10 rounds for each discipline, 10 rounds were also fired with the pistol.

The Top Marksman Trophy went to Rusty Vonarx of the Tablelands Branch with a total score of 389.7 points. Second place went to Ray Byrnes (Tablelands) with a score of 381.10 and third place was taken out by Aldo Bensi (Innisfail) with a score of 358.5 points.

The Friends of NASHOs Trophy was claimed by Brendan Mac Rae (Tablelands) who recorded a score of 377.8 and placed third overall. Adam Russo (Cairns) came in second with a recorded a score of 366.11 and third place was taken out by Tony Peters (Cairns) with a total score of 365.5.

Competition organiser Rob Saunders (Innisfail) won the Encouragement Trophy, recording a total score of 242 points.

In total, the Tablelands Branch recorded an average score of 339 points for their 7 shooters, the Innisfail Branch had an average of 334 for their 6 shooters and the Cairns Branch recorded an average score of 218 points across their 6 shooters.
