Long wait for parklands opening costs to be revealed
THE cost of opening Priors Creek Parklands is still unknown despite an undertaking by Tablelands Regional Council’s place-making general manager Greg Bowden that they would be provided at last week’s council meeting.

Cr Kevin Cardew asked for the costs of the 11 July opening of the new recreational space at the July meeting and was advised by Mr Bowden that a report would come to the August meeting.
But the report was absent from last week’s agenda, prompting Cr Cardew to ask why.
“I was of the view we would be getting a report for this meeting – why is it taking so long?” he asked.
Mr Bowden said he now expected the report to come to the October meeting, more than three months after the opening was held.
“We were hoping to have the report but I spoke to the team and they need extra time to extract that data to make sure it’s accurate,” he said.
The report is also expected to include the costs of the ongoing activation of the parklands through events such as movie nights and markets.
