Next month’s bull ride promises to keep its reputation as a high-energy event showcasing the best bucking bulls the region has to offer and a $20,000 Open Bullride prize pool that will be sure to lure in some top tier cowboys.

Spectators can look forward to over five hours of bull riding entertainment, including calf rides, novice and junior competitions, mini bulls, and the always-entertaining Invitational Butchers vs Bullocks challenge.

“Malanda comes alive for this event. It’s more than just a bull ride, it’s a community celebration that brings people together from across the region and beyond,” event organisers said.

Attendees won’t miss a moment of the action thanks to live big screen coverage. They’ll also enjoy a range of food vendors, bar service, and market stalls.

Following the action, popular FNQ country artist Jacynta’lee will get the crowd dancing with live music until late.

The event will be held on 11 October with gates opening at 2pm for a 3pm start.

Tickets are available now via TryBooking at www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1439169, or at Pure Country, Malanda.

The famous Calcutta

The famous Calcutta auction and Open Bullride Draw will take place once again this year in the lead up to the bull ride.

Teams of Open riders will be auctioned off, with winnings split between the highest scoring teams’ buyers: 60% for first, 40% for second.

This will be held Thursday 9 October at The BIG Pub, Malanda.
