Man on hand grenade charge

POLICE have charged a 31-year-old Edmonton man after he allegedly showed a hand grenade to an older man at Ravenshoe recently.

It will be alleged that around 8am on 31 July, the Edmonton man attended the residence of an 83-year-old man in Ravenshoe and was seen looking through a window.

The resident spoke to the man who then allegedly reached into his trouser pocket and pulled out what appeared to be a hand grenade before putting the weapon back in his pocket and leaving.

Police were notified and began a search for the man who was located in a shed of a Ravenshoe address. Police located the man and the grenade and it was safely disarmed.

The man was charged with nine offences including two counts each of obstruct police and unlawfully enter or remain in a dwelling or yard and one count each of unlawful possession of weapons category D/H/R, dangerous conduct with a weapon and enter dwelling with intent by break.
