Mango competition kicks off
THE Express is once again on the hunt for the region’s heaviest mango through its 10th annual Kensington Pride Mango Competition.

Professional, casual, and backyard mango farmers are all invited to participate in this year’s competition for the $500 first-place prize.
Prizes are also on offer for second place ($300) and third place ($200), courtesy of the competition’s major sponsor Lindsay Transport and Lindsay Rural.
All mangoes entered must be a Kensington Pride variety, photographed on electronic scales clearly showing the weight and viewed by a member of The Express newspaper team or Joe Moro from FNQ Growers – afterwards all mangos will be consumed by The Express director to ensure legitimacy and quality.
Last year’s competition saw a record smashed out of the park, with Adam Cerutti from the northern beaches in Cairns submitting a 2.33kg giant – the largest the competition has ever seen since it began in 2015.
The competition closes Friday, 30 January 2026 and the winner will be announced at the end of the harvest season. To enter, drop your mango off at The Express office at 186 Byrnes Street, Mareeba or to Mr Moro alongside a photo of the mango on scales.
