The Ravenshoe RSL app, which offers interactive maps and historical images, aims to preserve over 80 years of military history and offer free and permanent access to Ravenshoe’s WWII legacy.

It also aims to connect veterans and modern youth in a meaningful way, as well as boost local tourism and community pride.

Key features of the app include GPS-enabled mapping of WWII campsites, archival images and videos of preserved artifacts and structures, and educational insights into the training and deployment of Australian Army Units. The inclusion of QR codes at each site for instant access to historical content is also planned for the future.

The app is part of an initiative of the “WW2 Never Forget Camps Project”, which aims to honour the sacrifices of soldiers and educate future generations.

It was made possible by the efforts of Kelvin Groves, a former ADF member, and Bill Saddlier, a veteran UXO consultant.
