More than just a bird image
A BIRD photographer will share his insights about the region’s bird species at a free presentation in Malanda next week.

Scott Ritchie is a semi-retired researcher from James Cook University, who has become a serious bird photographer over the past three years.
Many of his much-admired images of birds have revealed a side to their lives that was poorly appreciated.
At the free talk next Thursday night, Scott will discuss the ways that bird photography reveals much more than a picture of the bird photographed.
He will be sharing these many stories through exceptional photo images, often bringing into focus elements of the bird species not appreciated before.
The audience will gain insights into the biology of the bird, its environment, and interactions with its neighbours.
Most of the bird species are from northern Queensland, but some come from his recent trips elsewhere including South and Central America.
The talk will be presented at the Malanda Hotel from 7.30pm on 13 November.
