Mt Garnet revs up!

IT’s time to rev the engine and polish the bumper again for the annual Mount Garnet Car, Bike Show and Swap Meet this weekend.

Held at the Mt Garnet Rodeo Grounds, this Saturday’s event will feature 10 show categories, swap and meet stalls, three live bands, a best-dressed rockabilly competition, an SES Emergency display, and raffles.

Competition categories will include Best of the Show, People’s Choice, Best Streetcar, Best Custom Car, Best Original Car, Best Jap Bike, Best European Bike, Best American Bike, Best 4x4, and the Hard Luck Award.

For those looking to camp, there will be a meet and greet from 12pm on Friday, with the bar facility staying open until midnight.

The gates to the main event will open at 7am on Saturday, with presentations being held at 12 noon.

There will also be plenty of fun for the kids including a jumping castle and face painting station which will open at 9am, as well as a range of food trucks to choose from.

Three bands will provide non-stop entertainment across the day and night, with Roscoe Devine playing from 9am-12noon, the True North Boogie Band from 12.30pm-3.30pm, and the Klockwork Band will rock the night away from 4.30pm-10.30pm with the bar staying open until midnight again.

There are no online pre-registrations, payments will be taken at the gate on the day. The cost is $10 for vehicle entrants and $20 for multiple entries. Spectators are required to give a gold coin donation but entry for kids is free.

Each year, the show donates to various charities as their way of saying “thanks”.
