Mural highlights town’s bird
A MOSACIC mural showcasing Mount Molloy’s “rascal bird” will be officially opened to the community last Wednesday 21 September.
Beginning the project in 2016, the mural depicts the Great Bowerbird’s antics and his prowess as he collects his trinkets.
Much like the bowerbird, the mosaic is made from a collection of mainly old tiles and bits of clay combined together to create the piece.
The six-metre-long mural is situated on the old post office veranda and is visible to those passing through the town from the Main Street.
Original composer of the mural, Caroline Lieber, says she is excited to see the piece completed in the main street and hopes it attracts more passerbys and bird watchers to the town.
“The project took many years to complete but we are thrilled to see it finally up in the town,” she said
