New bus service for feasters
A NEW bus service will make it much easier for Tablelanders to attend this year’s Feast of the Three Saints in Silkwood.

Event organisers said their new initiative aims to encourage more people from communities throughout the Tablelands to take part in the historic festival, which attracts thousands of visitors each year.
The Feast of the Three Saints is one of the region’s most significant Italian heritage events, which honours the traditions of Saint Alfio, Saint Filadelfo, and Saint Cirino, and celebrated its 75th anniversary last year.
Festival organisers say the bus service will provide a convenient and safe transport option for those wishing to experience the vibrant street procession, food stalls, live entertainment, and cultural displays that have made the event a highlight on the Far North Queensland calendar.
The Feast has deep roots in the region’s Italian community and has been celebrated in Silkwood for decades, honouring the traditions brought to Australia by early migrants who settled in the district’s cane farming areas.
Each year the festival brings together families, visitors and community groups to share in a day of faith, culture, and celebration.
By providing organised transport from key areas including the Tablelands and Mareeba district, organisers hope even more residents will have the opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere and strong sense of community that the Feast of the Three Saints offers.
The service cost is $30 per person. To book a spot, contact Vera via secretary@feastofthethreesaints.com.au or by calling 0407 593 009 before 17 April. The Feast of the Three Saints will be held on 3 May.
